The other day I walked out my front door and found a house moving down the street. It turns out I used to date someone who lived in this house. The university bought it last year and had put the house up for sale. Someone bought it and was moving it to a new lot across campus. Here are some photos and a video of the move.

Earlier this week I decided it was time to get a vacuum for my apartment. After looking into the cost of good vacuums I realized that it wasn’t that much more expensive to buy a Roomba. A MASSIVE Amazon.com box arrived on Wednesday containing my new Roomba 560. In short order I had it charged up and zipping around my apartment cleaning out the grime. Two days later and I have vacuumed my house probably ten times. It’s just TOO MUCH FUN watching it drive around! And my floors! They are so clean!

Come to think of it, this was more of a normal weekend. I’ve seen the kitchen much more interestingly decorated than this. Don’t worry mothers. It’s all very hygienic even if it doesn’t look the part.

Who would ever think our Greek Fire Academy training would be put to use so quickly? The abandoned house that used to be Phi Kappa Psi caught on fire a few nights ago. One room was pretty torched but the rest of the house remained the same: blown up. Last year in November the whole place blew up when a boiler exploded. In the next month or so it’s supposed to be torn down and rebuilt as the new home of Phi Kappa Psi. Until then I would not be surprised if it caught on fire again.
The fire fighters had to use a chainsaw to break through one of the side doors of the house.

Along with the duties and responsabilites of being the house father of Phi Delta Theta I also get a sweet apartment. Here are a few photos of it just as I was starting to move in. After I am finished unpacking (an ongoing process), I will take photos of the place in all its awesome glory.
Some assembly required.

Just before the school year started Paul, Shawn, and I attended the annual OSU Greek Fire Academy. We got to learn how to use fire extinguishers, played with fire hoses, crawled through a simulated burning building, and watched a dorm room get torched. Here are some photos of the event.
Trying out what it’s like to be a fire fighter.
Shawn having a good time in his junior fire hat.
Paul overcome with emotion after learning about fire safety. Or maybe he was coughing from the smoke.
Burn baby burn!

I’ve been hired by Phi Delta Theta to be the fraternity’s live-in dad next year. The job entails a few meetings, some emails, and hanging out with the guys at the frat. I’m really excited for the fall when I start the job. As those of you who have known me for a while know, the greek system is one of the very few things that I have not been involved in during my tenure at OSU.
