Sbeitla

It’s a new day. That means it’s time to see a new Roman town!

img_3190

The night before we stayed in an interesting hotel near the ruins. Some of my fellow students decided it was a good place for a drink. I didn’t partake in the consumption, but I attended in my official capacity as photographer.

Halloween

We had a Halloween party to bring a little bit of America to Tunisia. Here are the results.

IMG_1691

Lucas was prepared for Halloween by the family. Doria, Amal, and Amina, who was visiting from Paris for the weekend, applied appropriate makeup and selected Lucas’s dress.

We started the evening by sitting at a Cafe in Hammam Lif. We waited across the street from the old, shuttered casino. During earlier times, the gambling was high-class and high-rolling. Now days, the gambling and entertainment district of Hammam Lif lies dormant, supporting a few cafes and other small business. Perhaps one day the glitz and glamor of the past shall return.

Our classroom. All of our classes happen in the same room to make things easier for everyone. In the mornings on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we have Arabic from 830 to 1030am. then from 1030 to 1230 we have French. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have woman’s studies and environmental case studies from 130 to 430pm. On Wednesdays we usually go on field trips around the country. Sometimes we also go on trips on Saturdays.
