I didn’t get around to recording two road bike rides in the last week. The one ride was about 25 miles and the other was about 15 miles. Pace was 15mph on the first and 14mph on the second. Also this week I went into the gym several times to run on the track and lift some weights. Gotta get ready for swimsuit season!

Yesterday Jacob and I went on a Slow Run For Fat Kids around the 53rd/Campus Way loop from his house. Our total distance was about 5.5 miles. Coming back along Campus Way we passed a running class going in the other direction. One of the women checked out our packages with a sheepish grin on her face just as she passed us. We both felt flattered, ran faster, and held our heads higher on the way back to his house after that.

This morning I went on a short 4 1/4 mile run around Corvallis. According to some random calorie calculator on the intarwebs, I burned about 670 calories. Slowly but surely I’m getting down to my obscene bikini weight.
I went for a short 3 mile run yesterday. On the way back I practiced some sprints. Today my legs ache from the run and the earlier motorcycle ride.

I went for a 3 mile run this evening around the neighborhood. That’s 0.5 miles more than my last run. At this rate, I should be back up to 10 miles per day at a reasonably fast rate within a month.
Last night I did about an hour on the tread mill at the gym. 20 minutes of running at 5.5 mph with between a 6 and 3 degree slope (varying). 5 minutes of walking at 3.5 mph. 10 minutes of running at 5.5 mph. 10 minutes of walking at 3 mph on a 15 degree incline. 5 minutes of walking at 3.5 mph on a flat surface. 100 side steps in each direction at about 2 mph. Walking backwards at about 2mph for 5 or so minutes. Emily S happened to be working out at the same time I was there.
Afterward I did some quick chest and arms weights and some abs.
My extreme treadmill time was designed to start getting my legs and core warmed up for the impending snowboarding season. It doesn’t matter that there isn’t any snow at any of the resorts. I still have to get ready!
Tonight I went for a run up and round WItham Hill. There were some neighborhoods on its northern flank that I had never had the chance to explore before. It turned out to be yet another civil engineer’s take on suburban hell. Good place to go running though or at least as long as you don’t mind getting lost.
On the way back, rain started to fall but I wasn’t cold. It must be 65 degrees outside! That isn’t very promising for the ski season.
In total, I ran 3.5 miles.
Last night I went for a quick run along the Witham Hill bike path. In spite of the rain, the leaves are still hanging onto the trees in their full fall glory. In total, I ran 2.2 miles.

Tonight Samantha and I went on a jog along the Witham Hill bike path and through the Crest Drive neighborhood. Fall colors are in full swing in Corvallis at the moment. This time I remembered to take my camera.
Our route took us on a 3.3 mile jog.

Tonight Samantha and I ran along the Witham Hill bike path. We started out just before sunset and made it back as it was starting to get toward dusk. Both of us were surprised that we didn’t run into the cat that has followed us the last few times we’ve been down there. Samantha wondered if perhaps the cat had been eaten on its wanderings into the spooky scrublands along the path. I figured it was either inside eating or out hunting and had already received enough loving for the day.
Our route was about 2.5 miles long.
