Went up to 35th then down Harrison to 29th then over to Grant and back along the diagonal street to the Towne Pump gas station. Then out Lincoln to Witham Hill Drive, over Witham Hill to Walnut. East on Walnut to Highland Drive out past Crescent Valley. Up over Lewisburg Saddle and down Soap Springs road. Went out the rifle range road until it turned to gravel. Turned around and went out to 99W. 99W back to Corvallis. Turned onto 9th street and paraded down to Jefferson then to 11th then 15th then A street and Samantha’s. Bike ran just like a dream.
36 miles total. Rode alone.
Stopped at gas station. 80.4 miles since last fill. 1.967 gallons purchased. Fuel economy of about 40 mpg. Not great but that’s from all of the 1st gear riding, idling, and working the gears in the parking lot.

After the oil change where I drained out the seafoam and replaced the filter, it was time for a test ride. First stop was at the gas station to get some gas. I put in 1.967 gallons on 80.4 miles driven. That worked out to about 40mpg which is not bad considering all of the riding I did in 1st gear at very high RPM in Walla Walla and the long session of parking lot riding to break the clutch loose.
From difficulties on a previous ride finding a paved connector between the Camp Adair Road and the Kings Valley Highway, I decided to try and find a route from the other direction. No such route presented itself. After a few miles, Tampico Road turns into gravel. I turned around at this point and headed back out to 99W and back to Corvallis.
The bike ran like an absolute dream. It shifted very well, was responsive, and handled quite admirably.
My odometer read 36 miles for the ride.

To give my bike one last test of the now-fixed transmission before draining the oil and Seafoam out and replacing the fluid, I went on a quick jaunt up and around 53rd Avenue. Everything went very well. My bike shifted like nothing at all. Smooth and clean. I did notice that trying to turn the left turn signal on and off is getting a bit more difficult. One of these days I really need to clean that switch assembly out.
My odometer indicated about 15 miles.

Drained out 50 weight oil and replaced with 10W40 Napa brand oil and 4 oz of Seafoam. Let bike idle for 20 minutes and exercised gears and clutch before taking it to the football stadium parking lot. Did seven miles worth of parking lot riding to free up the clutch and allow myself to shift between the different gears again. Did five miles on the road to get the bike up to 55mph.

Buzzed around the football parking lot exercising my newly freed gears until it would shift smoothly. Then took it out on the road up on highway 20 to 53rd and then over to Harrison and back around on 11th to Samantha’s house.
7 miles in the parking lot, 5 miles on the road Rode alone.

ohhh yeah that feels good.
fixed my bike last night. the clutch was siezed due to using the wrong oil on a previous oil change. about an hour zooming around in a parking lot with the correct oil and four ounces of sea oil in the engine brought it back to life. tonight, I drain out the oil and sea foam, and put in good oil and a new filter.
THE BIKE!!! SHE LIVES!!!
on saturday i moved my friend up to pullman, washington. it’s about an eight hour drive with a uhaul. in the back of the uhaul we stuffed my bike and another friend’s bike. on sunday we took off with the intent of riding back. we made it to walla walla, washington before my transmission gave out. i couldn’t shift out of 1st gear!
i ended up sitting on the side of the road just south of walla walla for five hours waiting for a tow truck to come to take me to pasco, washington where i rented a u-haul to trailer it back to oregon. long story short, i have a $400 hangover and haven’t even started working to fix the bike yet. hopefully it’s just a broken shifter bar and nothing too expensive.
